Ingredients associated with fine lines

This page makes no promise about fine lines. Retinoids — retinol, retinal and their derivatives — are the ingredient group most often associated with fine lines, and this page lists the products whose ingredient list contains one; our dictionary also reads bakuchiol, sold as a plant-based alternative to retinol, into the same group. Products containing collagen are here too, where the formula stays on the skin: collagen is a large protein that stays on the skin surface as a hydrating film former, and it is the ingredient most often associated with the care of aging skin — we make no claim about firmness. Cleansers are therefore left out even when collagen is on the label: in a product you rinse off, it does not stay on the skin. The ingredient page shows where in each list either ingredient sits.
